All at Springfield Parish Council are saddened to hear of the the death of Springfield County Councillor Mike Mackrory.

Cllr Mackrory passed away, completely unexpectedly, in the early hours of 21 April.

Cllr Mackrory had been an Essex County Councillor since 2005 and was standing to be re-elected on 7th May 2026. He had also previously served on Chelmsford Council for 16 years for Springfield North, having been Mayor 1999-2000, opening our Parish centre in 1999.

Cllr Mackrory dedicated almost all of his adult life to serving the community. He supported many charities, such as Farleigh Hospice, and every spring-time Mike could be seen sporting a bright yellow top hat in aid of the Marie Curie Great Daffodil appeal.

Cllr Mackrory leaves a much-loved wife, children and grandchildren.

The election for a County Councillor in Springfield division will now be suspended and a new election date will be set by Essex County Council.
